Bangalore One-Day Metro Itinerary: A Route That Actually Fits
If you have one day in Bangalore, the mistake is trying to collect landmarks from every side of the city. This route stays close to the Purple Line for most of the day and uses a short auto ride only where it saves real time.

The practical route
8:00 AM — Cubbon Park
Begin while the paths are cool and the city is still waking up. Enter from the Vidhana Soudha side if you want the easiest continuation. An hour is enough for a relaxed loop rather than a rushed crossing.
9:15 AM — Vidhana Soudha exterior
Walk across for the view and photographs. This is primarily an exterior stop for most visitors, so thirty minutes is normally enough. Do not build the day around getting inside.
10:00 AM — Breakfast near Church Street
Take the Purple Line from Cubbon Park to MG Road or walk if the weather is comfortable. Have a proper breakfast now; waiting until after the next stop usually turns into an overpriced late lunch.
11:30 AM — Visvesvaraya Museum or nearby galleries
Choose one indoor stop around Cubbon Park and Church Street. The museum works well for families and rainy days. Art visitors may prefer the National Gallery, but combining both makes the afternoon tight.
2:00 PM — Lalbagh
Ride the Purple Line to Majestic, change to the Green Line and get off at Lalbagh. Allow about two hours. The garden is large enough that “a quick look” is rarely quick.
4:30 PM — Basavanagudi and Bull Temple
Use a short auto ride from Lalbagh. Walk the neighbourhood, visit the temple respectfully and stop for dosa or filter coffee. This is a better final chapter than crossing the city again for one more monument.
Common questions
Can I complete this route without taxis?
Almost. Most of the route uses Metro and walking, but a short auto ride between Lalbagh and Basavanagudi is the practical choice.
Is this suitable during monsoon?
Yes, if you keep the museum as the midday anchor and carry a rain layer. Late-afternoon rain can slow the last transfer.
What should I remove if I start late?
Remove the museum first, or finish after Lalbagh. Do not compensate by cutting meals and rushing every stop.
