Jaipur Two-Day Itinerary: Old City and Amber Without Rushing
Two days is enough for Jaipur’s headline sights if you stop crossing the city unnecessarily. Keep the walled city together on day one, then give Amber and the northern approach their own morning.

The practical plan
Day 1, 8:30 AM — Hawa Mahal exterior
See the façade before the street becomes busiest, then continue on foot into the palace-and-market cluster.
Day 1, 9:30 AM — City Palace
Allow roughly two hours if you enjoy architecture and collections. Rushing this stop to add another fort usually weakens the whole day.
Day 1, noon — Jantar Mantar and lunch
The observatory sits beside City Palace. Visit before lunch, then take a proper break rather than shopping through the hottest hours.
Day 1, 3:30 PM — Old City markets
Choose a limited shopping loop and agree on a pickup point. The bazaars are working commercial streets, not a single attraction.
Day 2, 8:00 AM — Amber Fort
Leave early for cooler weather and lighter traffic. The complex deserves two to three hours once approaches, queues and walking are counted.
Day 2, noon — Panna Meena or Anokhi Museum area
Choose one nearby addition rather than racing back and forth. Confirm current access before travel.
Day 2, 4:30 PM — Jal Mahal viewpoint or relaxed evening
Use the waterfront as a short photo stop on the return. Finish with dinner or a cultural programme only if energy and transport timing allow.
Common questions
Can I add Jaigarh Fort?
Yes, but remove the midday extra stop and allow more time around Amber.
Should I hire a car for both days?
Walking and short rides work inside the Old City; a car is more useful for the Amber day.
Where should I stay?
Choose the Old City for atmosphere or C-Scheme/Bani Park for broader hotel and dining options.
